Justin Lee Collins on Trial For Harassment

By Hashim Javier

The much loved Bristol comedian Justin Lee Collins is currently standing trial in St Albans, accused of harassment towards a former girlfriend called Anna Larkin, which is said to have continued for 8 months between January and August of 2011.

Justin Lee Collins (known as JLC) started making a name for himself as a stand up comic in 1997, when he was awarded the title of 'Best New Comedy Act' at the '97 Glastonbury music festival. He also reached the finals of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the BBC New Comedy Awards that same year, and continued with stand up until 2002 when he quit to focus on Radio & TV presenting.

Justin made his name as a stand up comic, for which he won a number of awards including the 'Best New Comedy Act' at the 1997 Glastonbury festival. That year also saw him reach the finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He continued with stand up comedy until 2002 when he decided to quit and focus entirely on TV and radio presenting.

JLC's TV presenting career began in 2005 with the E4 show 'The Games: Live at Trackside', made to accompany the channel 4 series 'The Games'. The show was a success and continued for two seasons until Justin found more mainstream success with the show 'Bring Back'.

Following his success on 'The Games' Justin got his own show on channel 4 entitled 'Bring Back'. 'Bring Back' followed Justin as he travelled across the UK and the USA attempting to re-unite cast members from popular TV series from past decades. The show was an instant hit, with audiences drawn to the rough and ready nature of the presenter and the programme.

Following on from the success of 'Bring Back', Justin went on to create 'The Convention Crasher' where he would travel around the world attending unusual conventions. Once at the convention he would attempt to become an expert in the specialist field in just a couple of days.

Following 'The Convention Crasher' Justin received his biggest break when he was presented with the opportunity to co-host a new show called 'The Friday Night Project' with funny man Alan Carr. Each week the couple were joined by a guest presenter and the three would take part in a range of activities and sketches. The show proved to be a huge hit with audiences.

Aside from his TV and Radio work, Justin is also patron of the Bristol Kids charity for which he has helped to raise a substantial amount of money. The trial has shocked many of the people in his hometown, the majority of who do not believe the charges to be true. His ex-wife has recently spoken in his defence, of his incredible warmth and kindness.
