How An Audiophile Speaker Cable Differs From Standard Wires

By Kendra Ware

For consumers with little experience and enthusiasm about sound systems, cables aren't given much thought during set up. In contrast, those who place particular importance on their sound quality usually have a strong opinion about cables. An audiophile speaker cable enhances sonic power and definition to improve the sound speakers generate.

There is no perfect product for all systems. To find the ideal cables for the individual, it's necessary to look into product synergy. Products can only deliver the best results when they're used with brand-recommended systems. Designer approved context tells consumers which cables to choose for their individual needs.

Many people prefer to set up a combination of product types so that they have a mixture that varies the sonic signatures. High end cables are not the products of choice for all audiophiles. Some swear that low end products are superior. Costly wires do, however, often come with cash back guarantees in which clients may return the product if they don't find it to be superior.

Most consumers need a lengthy period of listening time to determine the real sound difference generated by high end products. It's best to listen to the cable's effects over a period of days to ascertain the true differences in sound. People with inferior entertainment systems cannot benefit from all the enhancements generated by high end products, as their lower quality amplifiers and speakers won't be able to deliver high definition sound.

Those with high end sound systems need to find wires that offer the most precise, high definition sound for their particular systems. The base, tweet and sound stage all need to be supported properly by the wires used. Bass needs to be in high definition and treble needs its own sound quality support from cables.

All wires deliver a different sound stage, and preferences differ among consumers. Some people like a holographic sound whilst others adore a more organic sound stage. For this reason, product reviews can come across as contentious. However, when consumers pay attention to reviewers with similar preferences to their own, they will have more success finding the ideal cables for their personal preferences.

Many audiophiles hand pick each of their sound system's components, including the wires. High grade cables need to be designed to cope with the full wattage of the speakers, or the sound will be degraded. Audiophile standards vary from standard wire in that their products transmit more defined, enhanced sound. There are no standard features for such cables. Their only similarity is that their performance is enhanced.

Many fans prefer solid copper wire cables, claiming that their sound delivery is superior. They enhance bass and treble. Some brands also clear away noise that is generated by monitors and speakers. Foil shielding is generally used for this. Some cables are designed purely to enhance the sound of subwoofers. Their design focuses on enhancing only these frequencies.

Outdoor speakers often need longer wires and custom installation. In this case, wires are developed in a way that allows them to resist the weather and work well beneath crawl spaces and under soil. An audiophile speaker cable doesn't change the way the speakers perform. Instead, it enhances the sound they deliver for a superior sonic experience.
